I sure am. Everything's is packed and ready to be taken to the airport tomorrow morning. Yup! Tomorrow starts my amazing adventure. Thanks, Marketing Guy; I wouldn't be sitting here nearly jumping out my skin with excitement if it wasn't for you suing me. Oh yeah, and losing! It's a pretty amazing feeling winning a merit-less lawsuit. I feel quite vindicated, liberated, and much wealthier than before. Just can't wait to board that plane...I know the feeling will be 10 fold!
Anyway, I've spent the last few days at the gym trying to improve my Sprinting and fitness. I want to look good for Europe and I've been thinking that some short interval sprinting might be the best way to achieve that. I must have been in the gym for 12 hours total! I'm pretty tired but hopefully my legs look nice when I'm hiking up hills in those creaky old medieval towns. I'm hoping I can find a person to travel with once I get there. I like being alone, but it might get kind of freaky after a while. I guess I'll have to wait and see. T minus 12 hours and I'm off to England. Wahoo!
Hey! With my settlement money from the lawsuit I've decided to take my 3 week vacation in Europe - specifically in Spain, France, England, and Germany. I've never been to any of those places and am unbelievably excited to be taking off in the beautiful summertime. Yeah, Lori's going away and won't be back for a while so don't phone me up at the office - I'll be out fishing! Man, I've always wanted to say that...
Actually part of the reason I'm going is to do a bit of research on why Americans don't watch soccer. I've always been interested in that fact and now even more so thanks to all the brouhaha going on about a "World Cup" or "Premiere League Championship" on the message boards I read. I don't even know what that means, but I plan to find out. Also, my mother told me I have a great Aunt and Uncle living in Germany (Freiburg, to be specific). I should put my people search skills to work to find relative before I start wandering around a foreign country by myself. It might also be good to do an address find before I head out there.
I'm leaving mid-July. Maybe next time you hear from me I'll be posting from my aunt's house in Freiburg or a hotel in Barcelona. Wow, so exciting!!
At last that frigging lawsuit has been dismissed. The judge sided almost completely with me, saying that I was just doing my job and I had never misrepresented myself and that dude should just eat it. So it's NOT my fault he got fired. Hahaha!!! I shouldn't gloat but you know what? I am so glad that this is all over. How stressful it's all been but now it's time celebrate, yeah!! I'm feeling way better about my people search skills now, like I'm actually good at it (which I know I am, this whole suing thing just took it out of me for a while). I'm going to channel all my positive energy into a productive state, so I can find people to party with. I deserve a party after all this, maybe I'll take an extended holiday from work. I think I just need to work a few more hours to get a 3 week paid vacation. Whew, I must've been working hard to accrue all that. Haha, if the company only knew that I spent the majority of my time looking up useless information like about how nysght tries its hand at social search then they wouldn't be so excited about giving me this little vacay! It's not they're going to know though. And I look extra good because they won a lawsuit I was at the center of. Yeah, I am just cruising now. I wonder where I should on vacation?
No new exciting people search stories to tell you this month. Just a few new people finder sites. Because otherwise, all the background checks I've been doing have been pretty standard, run-of-the-mill. I've contemplated starting a garden, but I've definitely got a black thumb, so I was excited to come across this article about Buying a Green Thumb. I noticed I had a lot of fatigue at work lately. My friend recommended Master Formula, so I hope it works out.
Good news. The company took over the lawsuit. As they should! I was just doing my job when I did a background search on the Marketing Guy! Dude, company, if you don't want me to find people, you shouldn't make it part of my everyday duties! Anyway, it hasn't been resolved yet, but I've been assured by the company lawyers that they'll take care of everything. They don't want me to worry my pretty little head about it. They just want me to search people, so that's what I'm doing! I mean, it's a little messy, since I shouldn't have been romantically involved with a co-worker, but oops! No new interesting people searches to tell you about, just a hilarious rant to scrabulous.
The good news is that I got the job. The bad news is that Marketing Guy is suing me. Suing me!! He says I'm the reason he got fired. I had to search people to find a good lawyer, but my lawyer says he doesn't have a case and is trying to do this thing to get it dismissed. Still, that's another stressor I didn't need. I do like the new job though. I get to search people all day long actually! And then I get to talk to people and help take their information and help figure out what they really want. We have a therapist on staff who talks to them about the emotional side of things too. It's really cool. If only my dating life was going as well...since Marketing Guy I've just been too discouraged to even go out. I wish I didn't have to, that I just had someone already. All this reunion stuff has made me think about maybe contacting some exes, although as my friend Shirley says, "they're exes for a reason." But some of those reasons might have changed--like the one that wasn't ready for a committed relationship. Maybe he is now? Bleh. I'm going to go have some frozen yogurt. Oh, I found this great thing on rant farm - to frozen yogurt. Cracked me up and totally made me crave it too.
Oh, I am soooo bummed! So, I put off looking up Marketing Guy as much as possible because I wanted to (just once) have a really good New Years. So I waited till after the new year to look him up, and then, when I did, guess what I found? He's a thief! I mean, he has an arrest record and everything. Worse, he totally lied on his resume. It was so hard to see! I had to take all this information to my boss too, and that led to Marketing Guy being fired. Of course we broke up too...he blamed me for him getting fired and even told my boss about our relationship, which I thought was a really low thing to do, especially since it was HIS lies that got him in trouble in the first place. Apparently I'm a horrible people finder, I only find the bad ones. And now I have to do a person search for someone new. I'm not even sure I want to try any more. OH, and I have to look for a new job, because my boss said that it was my personal relationship with Marketing Guy that kept me from searching him earlier and that added "a greater risk to the company." I was so mad at the way I was being treated I was actually glad to walk from that place in the end. I actually saw an ad for a place that specializes in reuniting people with long lost loved ones, and I'm trying to work there. It would let me use both my customer service and my people search and background check skills. I already did the phone interview and the interviewer was impressed by my skills in finding people using a people search engine and I have the in-person interview next week. Wish me luck! Oh, and let this be a lesson to us all...background check first, then date. Sigh.
